This PCI PTS and SRED-approved mobile payment solution is designed to work with all mobile platforms and is certified for both on-line and off-line transactions.

It has a similar size to a mobile phone and can easily fit in a shirt or blouse pocket for portability. Importantly, it is fully compatible with VISA/ MasterCard /American Express Chip and PIN requirements, and the card holder experience is entirely consistent with PIN entry on a traditional device.Stanley Skoglund, Senior Vice President, Payment System & Enterprise Risk at Visa Europe: “We are pleased to support the development of solutions that enable secure card acceptance for small businesses that have not traditionally accepted cards. This kind of solution enables that acceptance while preserving the familiar experience of Chip and PIN and all the security benefits that it provides. We are delighted to see the arrival of services that can bring Chip and PIN out of the shop and into the hands of micro merchants. This helps extend the reach and flexibility of EMV and by doing so gives smaller retailers the chance to offer the same level of secure card acceptance that larger retailers can already do.”

Miura Shuttle pairs with all phones via Bluetooth, its fitted with Apple’s authentication co-processor, and supports Android, Windows and RIM operating systems as well as tablets to provide low cost, secure payment authorisation. Shuttle will be at the centre of the exponential growth in the use of mobile payment solutions both in existing and emerging global markets. The Shuttle uses Miura’s open yet secure Linux platform which supports simple application portability.

Customers that have already announced take-up of Miura Shuttle include Adyen in Holland and Payleven (part of the Rocket Internet Group) in Germany. More companies are due to make announcements in the coming weeks and months. David Poole, Managing Director of Miura Systems said: “More like a phone than a terminal but with far longer battery life and weighs only 118 grammes. We are delighted to be partnering with a number of world-class organisations to deliver innovative and compliant mobile payment solutions.”

Miura’s design philosophy is not only to keep the purchase price low, but to minimise the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) over the lifetime of the device. The company’s unique experience in mobile device design ensures that the Shuttle addresses the perennial problem of high levels of tampering that affect other mobile payment products.

Similarly Miura’s incorporation of its exclusive restore utility in Shuttle also avoids the expense and inconvenience of service calls or swap outs and gets the merchant back to taking payments in the fastest possible time.

Further lowering the Shuttle TCO, Miura’s remote key injection and key loading for data and PIN encryption minimise the need to handle or attend the device in the field or in staging.
